Bogen 3047 Head Review

This is a well built tripod. It is made to handle a heavy item. I actually bought itfor my Canon 50D. It is not for a person who is looking for a light weight tripod. This one is made of good quality metal throughout. If you want a steady, sturdytripod that will be around for your lifetime and have the muscle to move it around, then you won't be disappointed. I have the Manfrotto 3063 head mounted. I reallybelieve this head and tripod could hold a 50-75 lb recorder with no problem. This thing is a tank. The tripod legs alone are made of super heavy duty aluminum. They stay put once you set them. It has a bubble level on the tripod and the head to insure you are square. If you are thinking about a tripod that you will have for life and will be around long after you are gone, this is the one. The adjustments throughout are easy and stay snug with no movement afterwards. I am 60 years old and can still do my pushups. If you plan to use this in the field, make sure you are ready for a workout. I love this tripod. It is an item made to be used and knocked around and still be here tomorrow standing firmly like it was made yesterday. I know there a lot of more modern tripods made of graphite and carbon which are light and strongbut they cost more than I could ever afford. I am old school and I like the way things were made to last from good companies who have been in the business from the get go.. Aluminum is an element on the periodic table. Steel is a compound made from iron and carbon. Manfrotto engineering knew what they were doing when they put manufactured these. Made in Italy.Read full review
