Found a resolution for the Cisco VPN Installer error 27850 (Unable to manage networking component. Operating system corruption may be preventing installation) on Windows 10 Build 10130. This is an accumulation of resolutions found in the past for Windows 7 and 8.

4 Steps total

Step 1: Ensure you are using the lastest version of Cisco VPN Client

At the time, the most recent version is 5.0.07.0440, You will need to have an active account with Cisco to get this - This may not be required, but I did not try with earlier versions.

Step 2: Pre-Install the DNE software

The issue seems to be with Cisco's installer not being able to make the required changes to fully add the DNE driver to the system. You can avoid it needing to if you pre-install it. You can get this from Citrix's site here:

About 1/2 way down, you will find the 'Other DNE Problems' with links to 32-bit and 64-bit versions of this.

Step 3: Install the Cisco VPN Client

Once the DNE is installed, the Cisco software should now work correctly... Install it now.

Step 4: More issues: Reason 442: Failed to enable Virtual Adapter

Like in previous versions of Windows, the registry key for the driver ends up with information in front of the name that prevent the VPN software from enabling the Virtual Adapter. This can be fixed by correcting the registry key:

HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesCVirtADisplayName

It will be preceded by something like '@oemX.inf,%CVirtA_Desc%;' remove this so the line entry reads similar to 'Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows'

    I upgraded my Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro and the Cisco VPN client started in installation mode again. I was not albe to install it, getting error 27850. I performed the steps above and was able to install the VPN client.

    But when I try to make a VPN connection my Windows 10 gives a blue screen “ Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart…..”

    Has anyone solved this problem?

    Thanks. Just performed a clean install of Win10 Pro, and this seems to have fixed the install issue I had. For me I did not need to change the reg key though.

    @ Eddy: I'm not getting a BSDO (yet), but I'm not able to connect to any of my vpn clients (error reason 443; not specified by peer). Not sure if that's because we have a site-to-site connection there too...

    I've had a few BSODs, but they have all been related to power management. None for VPN. Not sure for the 443 as each time, once I got past the connection issues, it has always worked... And we have 3x Site-to-Site tunnels as well...

    My problem with the legacy Cisco VPN software was similar after moving to Windows 10 (from Windows 8) - with errors connecting after installation, error 433. Since I got my problem fixed (now running Win 10 in my VM), would like to share with fellow folks with the same problem - that I followed the instructions on http://www.gleescape.com/posts/2917 and it worked for me. Mine was a Windows 8.1 PC, now on Win 10 Pro, if it helps. Cheers!

    SilentStone > Did the direct link from Citrix not install correctly for you? Not sure if I would prefer downloading a 3rd party VPN client (SonicVPN) just to install the DNE software.

    Cheers silentstone! I installed successfully with the introduction in the link. The first error is 27850, then 433, the last is 442. Ha, all the errors I have met and restarted the computer many many times.

    Hello Eric,

    Sonic VPN is necessary for installing on win10 if you met the 433 error.

    SonicVPN is a means to an end, from their walk through: 'The likely reason was apparently due to the DNE LightWeight Filter network client not being properly installed by the Cisco Systems VPN installer.'
    Their solution to this is to install Sonic VPN so that it can install the Citrix DNE framework, instead of downloading the stand alone installer directly from Citrix and installing it (step 2 above.) That's why I was curious if the official Citrix version didn't work for you?

    I updated to windows 10 on all our Surface Pro 3s and received the 433 issue on one of them after updating DNE, reinstalling Cisco VPN Client, and changing the registry entry for CVirtA. I almost pulled my hair out trying to figure out why this one surface kept throwing up the Reason 443. I finally figure out that under Network and Sharing Center -> Advance sharing settings, I had to select the radio button for 'Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers' under HomeGroup connections. Once I did that, the Reason 443 issue disappeared. Hope this helps someone!!

    Eric M, I tried to install the DNE framework but it was not successful, so I resorted to Sonic VPN which is much more reliably installed.

    May have to go back to the drawing board on this one. My Insider version just ate my Cisco VPN Software and refuses to even launch the program now for 'Compatibly Reasons.' So, for those of us still using Cisco VPN Client, our days may be numbers. Might be time to jump to AnyConnect, or Shrew...

    Nope: Got it working, uninstall, reinstall and fix reg - everything happy again. This dance is getting a bit old though.

    Hello,

    for Windows 10 you can use anyconnect-win-3.1.00495-pre-deploy-k9.msi. Installation and connection is without any problem. We used this version in Windows 8.1 and it works great for Windows 10.
